Sales on the rise for Thomas cook, Thank you Redknapp!

Wednesday, March 10th, 2010

Thomas Cook has now started to utilize the abilities of Celebs. Basically the same way that every other company in the world does, by advertising with them. However Thomas Cook has been a little different in the way they have done this. This tour operator has been largely dedicated to its UK customers, so used a celebrity loved by all in the UK. If someone were to ask anyone who Jamie Redknapp was they would probably know straight away. Louise is a judge on one of the UK’s most watched shows currently on TV. These two are known very well by the UK!

What is it in this advert that makes it oh so special. Well Jamie and Louise are people that everyone can relate to. They embark on a holiday with Thomas Cook and are seen relaxing on the beach, going for a meal, nothing to fancy. This advert intends to give people the impression they can live like a celebrity as well. With the five million pounds they got from this advert do you think that the Redknapp’s would be staying in the cheaper resorts they advertise.

There is never any bad press about this couple, in fact they appear in all kinds of adverts. This couple have worked well together, and do very well together. Thomas Cook is the longest running Tour Operator in the UK, so they are a very respected and trusted Tour Operator. This business has done very well to bond so well with the Redknapp’s.

Let’s take a second though and look at it from the other side. Celebrities don’t camp out in the same hotels as us, we all know that is true. This hotel they are in at the advert, they wouldn’t really stay there, so are they telling us lies? Do you really think that this holiday is going to be as good as is suggested.

Sharm El Sheikh Holidays are a favourite of the Celebrity demographic, showered in luxury hotels, however saying that Egypt holidays have been popular with the entire country. So is Thomas Cook wrong to be employing role models in their adverts, of course not, I have been on Hurghada holidays, what fun it was, no celebrities spotted though!

Dangerous animals in Sri Lanka!

Wednesday, March 10th, 2010

So the planned holiday is ready to take flight, and you have everything you need. Is there anything that you should really be all that worried about when going on a Sri Lanka safari?

  1. The Elephant is probably something that you would be dying to see when on any safari. Musthe is what you should be really scared of, this is a frenzy that some elephants enter at random moments, even those that have been trained all their lives go though this sometimes, they become very deadly.
  2. Then there is the Leopard, a more obvious animal to be more frightened of. These well hidden and crafty animals like to sneak up on their prey, and then charge at immense speeds. If you are confronted by one, experts suggest you stand your ground! These animals are generally quite shy and will back away from you, finding them is tricky.
  3. This one is debatable by some, and everything depending on how it reacts depends on how you act. This is the Sambar Deer, a beast of all dears, extremely large. They are generally very calm and do not attack normally unless they feel threatened. These animals weigh almost 300 kilograms, and can really charge, just imagine a herd of them coming for you.
  4. These next ones are some big reptiles. The Swamp Crocodile is arguably one of the grumpiest animals in the world; it will eat almost anything, and strike out at something even if it is not in danger. These animals may be fast in the water, but they can also speed over short distances on island.
  5. When i say lizard, you probably won’t think much of it, read on. The Monitor lizard is a very large lizard, much like the Komodo Dragon, in fact it is around 2 metres in length, and is a very powerful predator. Make sure you avoid this animal!

Still fancy Sri lanka holidays, in all realities, these creatures are never going to become a problem on your vacation. If you want something more relaxing maybe you should try Luxury holidays, how about Dubai holidays?

Finding The Best Vacation Spots For You And Your Family

Thursday, March 4th, 2010

I have always loved winter time particularly when it snows. I have lived down South all my life so I don’t usually get to see snow. Then we decided that we were going to take a vacation. It didn’t matter where as long as we got to see snow and sit in a hot tub. While doing a little research on the internet I found a website about Gatlinburg, Tennessee. That is where we took our next vacation and I have to tell you it was amazing. We all loved it and plan to go as often as we can.

The best way to find a great vacation destination is to look online. You will be surprised at how many great deals you can find. You can even find vacation packages sometimes that include travel, accommodations, and food. Before booking your accommodations you will have to decide whether you want to stay in a condo, hotel, cabin, or chalet. Some places my not have condos and others my not have cabins for rent. It depends on where you are going.

While in Tennessee we loved the cabin we rented it was amazing. After a long day we would all put our sleepwear on so we could lounge on the floor in front of the beautiful fireplace. We just simply laid there together talking and sharing old stories. If you don’t plan to vacation somewhere cold then you will have to figure out another way to get family time in since you wont be using a fireplace.

We our kids feel asleep by the fire we covered them over with blankets to keep them warm. Then me and my wife climbed on the sofa to snuggle together as we read our suspense books. I like reading suspense with a little action mixed in but my wife prefers to read a little suspense with a lot of romance mixed in. The point is the trip brought us back to each other, we became a family again even if it didn’t last.

When you have teenagers and grown kids, they start to do there own thing so often that you barely see them anymore. A vacation like this is just what all families need to bring there family back together even if it is for a short time. Any time with your family is good time.

After choosing a destination and booking the accommodations there is still one more thing you will want to do. Take a little time to do research to find activities for the whole family. We all wanted to ski but we needed to learn first, so I found a website online and found a ski instructor that was willing to teach us all.

You don’t have to worry about not bringing any equipment you might need for certain things because there are shops every where that rent out gear. As a souvenir for the family to take home we let everyone pick out their own ski helmet for us to buy. Then we just rented the rest. Remember it really does not much matter what you are doing or where you are doing it as long as you and your family are happy and together.

Malaysia: The True Heart Of Asia

Tuesday, February 23rd, 2010

Kuala Lumpur, the capital of Malaysia, is not what most Westerners expect when they arrive. Most of us have seen pictures of sprawling third world cities full of pollution. To see this beautiful green and modern metropolis therefore is quite a surprise to most first time visitors.

One of the major attractions of Kuala Lumpur is the Petronas towers – a chrome, steel and glass structure that used to be the tallest in the world until 2004, when Taipei one was constructed. The towers are still the world’s tallest twin buildings though. Inside you will find a modern shopping mall and hundreds of upmarket offices.

Many tourists flock to the Kuala Lumpur Chinese market at night. In this sprawling warren of stalls you will find nearly everything you can think of. I compared a couple of prices to those back home and they were very reasonable indeed. Especially the prices of ebook readers and other electronic equipment were way lower than what it would cost in a Western city. And afterward our group dined in a lovely Chinese restaurant not far from there.

During breakfast the following morning the lovely texture of my dining room chair caught my eye. I asked the head waiter and he explained that it was made from rubber wood produced in Malaysia. I was totally surprised to find out that rubber wood could have such a lovely texture and be so solid. Later that morning I compared prices of dining room suites with those back home and what I found made me immediately order a brand new dining room suite made from the wood of Malaysian rubber trees!

As befits a city with its feet planted squarely in the 2lst century, Kuala Lumpur has a shiny, modern subway system that will take you virtually anywhere in the city. Ticket prices are low compared to the West.

The beautiful island resort of Penang is within easy reach of Kuala Lumpur. It’s been a favourite holiday spot for both locals and overseas visitors for decades. The island offers not only great beaches, but you can also view rainforests and visit the largest butterfly farm on earth. Ensure you get a hotel with air conditioning – without this little luxury you will soon know that you are in the tropics.

While you are visiting Malaysia, or maybe just after your visit, why not get more than just light-hearted pleasure out of your trip? The team at nlp Singapore has a number of excellent courses that will assist you with improving your business communication skills and self-awareness. Completing one of these courses will have a major effect on the way you deal with business and private problems and challenges.

Active Vacations In Iceland

Thursday, February 4th, 2010

Iceland is famous because of its wide variety of tourist attractions. Some trips involve traveling quite a bit into the interior of iceland, while others focus on smaller areas on the coastline. Iceland has something for everyone: for those who are interested in more traditional vacations and those who like extreme sports. Tours range from a few days to a whole holiday. Nature tours will delight visitors with breathtaking landscapes, fresh lava fields, roaring waterfalls and beautiful ice caps.

In July and August tourists can visit the interior of Iceland. Winter tours can be trickier and need special organization. Skiers will find Iceland as an ideal spot for practicing their skiing skills, and there is also the possibility of ice fishing and touring the glaciers on a snowmobile.

Iceland is the best destination for an active tourist. There are plenty of opportunities for an adventurous vacation cross the island: hiking, fishing, swimming, horseback riding, glacier tours, whale watching or boat tours.

Glacier tours are made regardless of season, either with snowmobiles, or with super-jeeps. Those who prefer walking have also a wide choice. The biggest part of Iceland is over 400 m above sea level, and a considerable part of the island is covered by lava, lakes, sand or glaciers. Hiking is extremely popular in Iceland despite the fact that there are few marked walking paths.

Other popular activities are the water sports: enthusiasts can choose from kayaking on inland rivers, gentle bays or wild shores. Those who prefer river rafting, can have a lot of thrills in swirling glacial waters. Swimming is also very popular in Iceland. There are outdoor or indoor swimming pools everywhere, filled with the water of natural hot springs. The water temperature is about 29 degrees Celsius, and in many places there are jacuzzis, saunas, solariums and hot spots with temperature between 36 to 44 degrees Celsius.

Fishing is also great in Iceland: salmon and trout are particularly popular. Those who are interested in salmon fishing should schedule their trip from June to mid September, and they must know permits have to be arranged in advance. Trout season is from April/May until late September/October, and tourists can have their permits on the spot. In the winter, ice fishing is popular, and those who are seeking for more extreme adventure, can go sea angling. The season for sea angling begins in late May and ends at the end of August. At the end of the season, tournaments are organized all across Iceland.

Whale watchers should also visit Iceland: there are many species of whales in the North Atlantic. There is a wide variety of choice of whale-watching ports all around the coastline.

Bird watchers can also feel in heaven. There is no larger birdcliff than Látrabjarg in the West Fjords. There can be found a wide variety of cliff nesting species, and the largest razorbill colony in the world lives here. The Westman Islands have many kinds of seabirds and here is the largest puffin population in Iceland.

If You Want Cheaper Holiday Wales Should Be on List

Tuesday, January 26th, 2010

More and more people are choosing not to holiday abroad this year, instead preferring to stay at home and avoid the cost and stress of travelling. The credit crunch has affected a lot of people and many are finding that they are short of money to spend on luxuries such as holidays. The recession combined with the current strength of the euro against the pound, means it’s not surprising that the number of UK holidaymakers choosing to visit traditionally popular European destinations like Spain and Portugal has fallen.

In fact, according to figures released by the European Commission 48 per cent of Europeans intend to spend their holidays in their own countries this year, that’s five per cent higher than in 2008. Those still planning to travel abroad are spending much more time shopping around for the cheapest deals, and booking in advance on the internet to save on cost.

The credit crunch may be bad news for tourism in Spain, but for UK destinations such as Wales it could be just the boost they’ve been waiting for. Not only are many UK holidaymakers looking at destinations closer to home this year, but the weak pound could bring in more visitors from abroad as well.

Wales is the perfect destination in the UK with a huge variety of things to see and do and places to stay, from hotels to camping to rented flats and holiday cottages. The scenery is stunning, from the world famous mountains and valleys to the beautiful coastline which has been awarded no less than 43 blue flag awards for water quality, cleanliness and safety. There is no shortage of options including garden breaks wales, walking, exploring or activity holidays, including abseiling, water sports and ‘coasteering’ right along the stunning coast. So if you’re looking for a UK destination this summer whether you’re planning a family holiday, romantic getaway or a short breaks Wales could be the choice for you.

I don’t fly often and my last Egypt trip was scary!

Tuesday, January 12th, 2010

Hi I am David, and it’s been a very long time since I last went on holiday on a plane. More than 10 years ago was the last time I fainted when flying. As far as I was concerned I didn’t have a fear or a ohobia of flying, it just happened, and I passed out. Going back on to a plane was very low on my priority list, and decided to stay at home for holidays in future, may sound sad, but obviously it wasn’t in the house. Then everything was going to change, the missus wanted to go abroad didn’t she, and all the way to Egypt, so no trains or cars!

Just remembering how little I did actually remember of flying was scary enough… Something else I better tell you as well, this also happened on the previous return flight as well… So I may have started to panic a little bit, even though I didn’t know what I was panicking about! There was no way that my missus was going to let me get away from going on that plane. So I sat down, and nothing seemed to happen, my heart wasn’t racing and everything seemed fine, I could see straight as well. Nothing seemed to unsettle me, even the noise of the massive engines under the planes wings didn’t upset me!

I couldn’t figure out why I didn’t pass out this time, or why I passed out the last time, everything just seemed to be fine this time. At this time though, the holiday seemed like a really exciting experience. I was eager to get back on the plane and get flying again. Things just had to go wrong didn’t they! Across the loud speakers, the Captain could be heard announcing that some heavy turbulence was heading our way. And he wasn’t joking it really was rough, in fact I thought that the plane was going to fall apart, I was being shaken all over the place, and to make things worse their was lightening outside. I couldn’t believe it but I made it, however somehow I did. I never thought I would be saying this, but I kind of wish I blacked out!

Egypt holidays Didn’t actually appeal to me that much, and i never went back, next up was a choice between Maldives holidays or Sri Lanka holidays, both involve a aeroplane!

Toddler Friendly Holidays at Christmas

Sunday, January 3rd, 2010

So you’ve taken the big decision and booked a family ‘get away from it all’ Christmas break… but now you’re realising exactly what you will be ‘away from’ and are pondering how you’ll transport the ‘family Christmas at home’ event to another country!?

Here are our top 10 tips for family friendly holidays at Christmas, to make sure you all have a wonderfully relaxing trip…

1. Involve the kids in the travel experience. Get out a map and show them where you are going. Talk about how many miles you are travelling – just like Santa himself! Let your children help pack their suit cases and even choose Christmas gifts for members of the family with whom you’ll be holidaying.

2. Make sure they leave a note at home ensuring Santa knows of their temporary location so he can be sure to find them on Christmas Eve. If Santa will be unable to hop down a chimney, let the kids leave suggestions as to an alternative method for their delivery. And of course, remember to leave out a mince pie and a little tipple (or perhaps a local equivalent!) at your arrival point. He’s sure to need a snack after the extra trip from your house!

3. Discover whether the larger internet retailers deliver to your destination. You can even get presents gift wrapped. Don’t forget to plan for how you’ll get them home! Perhaps try to keep a spare case or fold away bag empty and keep the family’s luggage down (at least you won’t usually need swimming gear at this time of year!) Try to plan presents that are small and lightweight to pack.

4. If you can’t take all the gifts, talk about how children in Europe get theirs on Epiphany instead. Perhaps Santa will accommodate your plans and leave smaller than normal presents, or maybe leave some but with a note that there are still some more surprises waiting at home under the tree.

5. Make much of creating the same ‘Christmassy’ atmosphere they’ve left behind when you arrive – most properties will provide a tree, decorations, etc for Christmas guests.

6. Take some CDs of Christmas songs and stories along for the journey to keep the festive spirit alive en route.

7. Check out the local Christmas markets or plan to visit a theme park that opens over the holiday season. Train rides, tours of lights and visits to see Santa are some of the things you can expect to find no matter where you go on baby friendly holidays at Christmas.

8. Pack a small bag of supplies for your tots to make decorations for your holiday home. Or pop to the local supermarket on arrival to stock up on the makings of some Christmas biscuits or mince pies (though you may need to pack a jar of mincemeat from home!)

9. Before you go, read about how children celebrate Christmas in other countries. You can perhaps introduce some new traditions during your child friendly holidays, to take home with you for future Christmases.

10. Enjoy the relaxation that being away from your home environment brings – no racing around visiting friends and family, no sale shopping, no ‘let’s use the time off to decorate the spare room’ – just chill out and enjoy time as a family!
