Protect Your Animals at Christmas

Christmas has arrived again, a period for jollity , however it is also a dangerous time for both us and our beloved animals. Pet Sitters London have tried to identify their top tips to minimize the dangers to our pets over this seasonal period. Pet sitters are often asked for advice or spot potential dangers to pets at this time of year. This is often a neglected part of pet care.
1. Your Xmas Tree
The most important this about this is ensuring that it is in a safe place and is firmly fixed. This enjoyable activity of decorating the tree with your children, must be done in such a way that the cat, if it jumps up onto it, will not crash it down on to the pet. Animals and cats can be put out of joint at Xmas and can become panicky and liable to do anything, with all the new people around, with all the new smells and sounds. If you can avoid placing the tree close to furniture that will help the pet leap onto the tree. If possible and particularly if the tree is not the most stable, can you tie it to the wall and or ceiling with some wire. Use a hook in the wall might help. Weighting down the tree roots / stem to improve stability is another way of avoiding risks.
Real trees pose a further risk from the pet digesting the pine needles – so clean them up regularly. Some of the water additives for prolonging the life of the tree are dangerous, ensure your dog cannot drink this water.
2. Xmas Decoration Care.
The most dangerous to young children and pets are the glass balls, why not buy yourself a safe painted wood or plastic version. Eating these can be very dangerous. Another danger are the bight ribbons and streamers that can be attractive to dogs, and can block the digestive tracts.
Take care with using hooks on fixing the decorations to the trees, use string – it is far safer.

3. Dangers with Electrics.
Care with the electrical leads, man and beast can trip over them, bringing down what ever is attached. So tidy the wires up. Be very wary if you have a cat or dog that is curious and if it chews. Keep things turned off if no one in the room, or close the door.

4. Animal Behaviour
Though you may appear to have plenty of time, you are often distracted and paying more attention to other people / things than your pet.
It is important to have a rational understanding of the reliability of your pets. If in any doubt close the rooms with any potential danger to, or caused by pets.
Animal behaviour can become disturbed at Xmas with the new sounds, smells and people. Animals are protective and can see a lack of attention, their favourite spot taken by the tree and presents as a threat to their quarters. They are then more liable to change behaviour, cats become worried and nervous, they often go off their food – even if you are offering them some special Salmon or Turkey. Dogs risk being aggressive, if they do not have enough exercise or too much attention to the visitors. A particular danger even with very well trained and behaved dogs is the “ out of the ordinary” attacks on kids and babies. Keep kids and dogs apart if not being supervised carefully all the time. If busy consider a professional dog walker from a company such as Dog Walkers London. If you do not have the time for exercising the dog, book your dog sitter for a few sessions over Christmas, though a good idea to do this early as they are likely to be busy.
5. Boxes of Christmas Presents
dogs] especially with many people looking at them. Be particularly careful if you have moved their bed to put the tree up and the presents around it. Dogs can rip the presents to pieces in minutes if you are unlucky. The most dangerous consequence is often the digestion of string that can cause digestive blockages, resulting in a trip to the local London veterinary clinic.
6. Food Dangers for Pets
Even at Xmas avoid feeding animals at the table, this habit is very difficult to break as they do not understand why it was OK at Christmas but not now!
Some Christmas items are particularly dangerous, especially the Holly. Some food such as onions, which could be in the nice stew or some of the chocolate being handed around. Sugary products can cause dental problems and with 30-50 % of pets suffering from being over weight these calories should be avoided. For pet and human, perhaps go for a dog walk, he would probably prefer it.
7. Safety of the Home
Before the season, do a thorough check, looking for potential dangers, our pet sitters, often identify risks and pass them onto the owners, common ones include live candles that might be knocked over by pets, especially dogs wagging tails.
I would advise Christmas tree lights to be turned off at night and when no human is present in the house.

Our best wishes for a safe and Merry Christmas for you and your pets.

How To Use A Camping Trip To Rejuvenate Yourself And The Family Again.

Life can becoming very predictable and boring if you and your spouse are both in a nine-to-five job. It seems to end up being a never ending series of repetitive events without any change in sight. It might even have a negative effect on your family life in the end. This is when a weekend camping trip for the whole family could help to get rid of all the stress and bond as a family again.

Camping isn’t everybody’s cup of tea. But if you have never done it before, how will you know? There might be a closet camper deep inside you that’s just waiting to break free. It can do no harm to try. And don’t think that a camping trip means going without your modern conveniences. Modern camping sites all have connection points for electricity, so you can bring along all the gadgets you are used to.

There’s a number of different camping styles and you will have to find out which one is for you by trial and error. Many people swear that camping in a tent is the only way to be really close to nature. Others find that a little too close to nature for their liking and they prefer a camper or even a motor home.

Regardless of what choice you make in this regard, you should remember that there will still be a lot of other people around. Unless you really want to go camping in the outback of course. So make sure you take decent clothes for you and the kids. You don’t have to pack evening dresses and by all means leave the jewelry pendants at home, but at least make sure the kids don’t run around looking like hillbillies.

If the camping site has a swimming pool you should remember to take your swimming trunks and bikinis. And if you are the lady of the house, remember that bodily hair is not the asset it used to be a few thousands years ago. There are enough permanent hair removal clinics around – you really don’t have to scare the other people at the swimming pool because you resemble a gorilla.

A motorcycle can be a source of great fun on a camping trip. If you’re fortunate enough to have one of these, especially an off-road one, it could provide you with many hours of fun exploring all the little tracks around the camping site.

Something very important to remember in this regard is to make sure you have a helmet for every motorcycle. A full face helmet is obviously the best. Going home without one of your family members is a terrible thing which will be worse if it could have been prevented with a little foresight.

The United States Air Force museum is the national museum of the U. S. Air Force and is the world’s largest military flight museum. Its mission is to present the mission, history and evolving capabilities of the U. S. Air Force.

Explaining the history of flight, the Air Force museum is an attraction that is internationally well-known.

The popular air and space museum welcomes over 1. 2 million visitors each year to observe the 17 acres of indoor displays that feature more than 300 different aircraft and aerospace machines.

The museum features galleries that connect today’s Space Age all the way back to the Wright brothers era.

The museum employs sensory exhibits, to tell the Air Force story as well as educational programs and many special events.

The Air Force also observes its men and women, highlighting such virtues as duty, innovation, and courage.

Dayton, Ohio, the town that the Wright brothers lived and invented their airplane in, is the location of the Air force museum.

Four gigantic hangar buildings at Dayton’s Wright-Patterson Air Force Base house the collection of displays. The museum is a must see, whenever you get to Dayton.

Even if you only have a slightly active interest in NASA, the military or aircraft, you will absolutely have a great time. A visitor who is very interested in aviation might easily consume two days roaming through the museum.

And you cannot beat the price of admission, because it is always free.

From every era in aviation history, starting with the first bi-planes, there are all classifications of airplanes displayed.

To tell its stimulating story, the museum uses chronological and subjective layouts to depict years of aviation development.

Exhibits there include aircraft and missiles, the Stealth fighter, the SR-71 super spy-plane as well as the X-15, which is history’s highest and fastest flying aircraft.

The museum also displays personal memorabilia including uniforms, photographs and thousands of other Air Force artifacts.

Prisoner of War history is the theme of one of the more popular of the exhibits in the museum.

This display features everything from homemade mousetraps to fitness exercise equipment that was fabricated by the prisoners in WWII prison camps.

You might also find in corners of the museum, Air Force issued cooking utensils, bugles and Harley-Davidson motorcycles.

If the U. S. Air Force had ever used an Ibanez acoustic electric guitar or a 5 piece drum set, they would certainly have them here.

This excellent museum is an immensely interesting scene to visit and a wonderful experience for everyone in the family.

Want To Learn How To Renew Your Expired Us Passport?

So you want to renew your Expired United States Passport? You have several options when doing this, all of which depend on your current status and your location. We’ll talk more about them as we go along in this article. First we’ll begin by talking about renewing your passport by mail.

Renewing your passport by mail is a convenient way to have your passport renewed. That’s because you no longer need to pay the passport office a visit just to submit your passport application. All you need to do is submit your application form by mail, along with the required documents to accomplish this. You’ll then receive your new passport by mail.

Unfortunately, not everyone can have his or her expired passports renewed by mail. You must first meet the requirements for those who can do this: your passport should be in a good condition, your passport was issued to you when you were over 16 years old, and that your passport was issued during the last 15 years. Also, your current passport must contain your legal name. Otherwise, you will be required to legally document your name change.

What if your passport is damaged, or was issued more than 15 years ago? If you do not meet the requirements mentioned above, then you will have to submit all your application documents in person to your nearest passport office. This may be an additional step, but only to ensure that the passport is issued to the right applicant.

Also keep in mind that the passport renewal by mail is open to those in the US and citizens based in Canada. If these two conditions apply to you, then just download Form DS-82 at the US Department of State’s website. Once you’ve filled it out, mail it to the address indicated in the form with the other requirements.

If you are living outside the US or Canada, however, you cannot choose to apply for an Expired pasPort renewal by mail. You will then need to visit your nearest US Embassy or Consulate for your passport renewal. Just provide them with the necessary requirements and they will help you process your passport. Keep this in mind just in case you are traveling to a foreign destination.

For your security, you should use a traceable method of delivery when sending your passport by mail. This ensures that it is only received by the addressee and nobody else. Also, make sure you use a durable envelope to keep the documents contained in it safe before processing.

Your application for Expired United States Passport renewal normally takes four to six weeks to process through the routine application. However, you could also have the process expedited if you need your passport sooner. This will cut the processing time to just two to three weeks. That’s everything you need to know on how to renew your expired passport.

Make Sure You Are Ready Before You Go To Get Your New American Passport

Whatever type of passport-related transaction you’ll do – applying for a new passport, passport renewal, applying for a passport card – it pays to know what you need to do even before you visit the passport office. Doing this is surely a time saver. Imagine how much time you’ll save if you know what you need to do next.

In this article, we’ll show you how to get a passport for the first time, renew your expired passport, as well as apply for a passport card. We’ll keep these tips simple and straightforward to prevent you from getting confused any further. Ready? Read on.

When applying for your a new passport, you will have to fill in Form DS-11. You will also be required to submit other supporting documents along with this form. One such document is your proof of citizenship.

For one, you need to establish your US citizenship. When establishing your citizenship, you have to present US-issued documents such as the following: your birth certificate, certificate of citizenship, and certificate of naturalization. Or, if you were born abroad, the consular report on your birth would suffice. Present any of these documents along with the DS-11. Your document will then be returned to you along with your US passport. Other times, your document may be mailed separately.

When submitting your passport application in person, you will be required to present your ID at the passport office. Also have that ID photocopied and submit it with the other requirements. Then you also need two color passport photos attached to your documents. Once you have fulfilled all the requirements, you have to pay the applicable fees.

From first time passport applications, we move on to passport renewals. You need to renew your passport as soon as it expires, and as soon as you need it. To renew your expired passport, you have to accomplish and mail Form DS-82. However, if you are currently based abroad, you could also send it to your nearest US embassy and consulate. They will then handle the renewal of your passport.

Then finally, there’s the passport card. A passport card is a more convenient option to having a passport book, although applying for both are recommended. You can use your passport card in areas that are covered by the Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative (WHTI). WHTI areas are: Bermuda, Canada, the Caribbean, and Mexico. Fill in the DS-82 if you already have the passport book, and then submit the form by mail. However, you need to fill in the DS-11 if you are not eligible for the mailing option, and then submit your form in person.

Simply put, you’ll only need two types of passport forms when applying for a new passport. You have to use the DS-11 if you are getting a passport for the first time, along with the other required documents. On the other hand, use the DS-82 if you are renewing your expired passport. Follow the same instructions when applying for US passport card.

How people still sell homes despite bad housing market

Right now how bad the housing market is today is really all you hear about. All you hear about are surely all the foreclosures and those people who are losing their homes.  Although it is true, there are still some people still able to sell their homes in this market. In this article we are going to discuss how in this really striving housing market they are able to do it.

First of all like anything that needs to be sold there will be competition. You really have to realize that there is competition and basically it doesn’t matter if you are just selling your own home. With that in mind, you have to be better than your competition and you then have to realize that to sell your home.Stage your home is definitely one of the best ways that you can be better.  With my home staging Orange County service I have seen a direct affect that getting your home staged has when trying to sell.

Why staging your home works so well is simply because you are basically making your home a model home. They definitely see a really beautiful home rather than a prospective buyer seeing a home that looks lived in.A new model home could be just a home that looks exactly like it. In my home staging Ontario service I see how much better a home looks to show to buyers after it is staged.

Now another thing you can do is not only stage your home but you could also hire a professional interior designer.Usually this specific person can also be the same person as the one who do the staging of the home. Why you would need an interior designer is simply because that person definitely knows how to dress up a house.  As a interior designer Orange County service my clients love the extra experience I offer them from my design work.

As you can see when you want to sell your home you have to make sure what you offer is better then your competition. If you religiously do these things then you will be doing just that.

Lanzarote´s Top Five Attractions

The small Canary Island of Lanzarote offers visitors a huge amount of things to do and see.  Despite only measuring just 60km by 40km.Boasting great beaches, photogenic villages, a host of natural wonders and the creations of local artist César Manrique.

Lanzarote is the most easterly of the Canaries – and is a very popular tourist destination.  Welcoming in the region of 1.5 million visitors every year – the majority of them from the UK, Germany and Eire.

The island has been welcoming tourists for over forty years and enjoys great weather all year round. Thanks to Lanzarote´s location just 100 miles off the coast of west Africa.

Accommodation standards are high – with lots of good options available across the island.  During the winter months the best weather can be found in the south – where visitors will also find a good range of hotels and holiday villas in Playa Blanca to choose from.

Exploring the island is simple as the roads are both safe and quiet – especially outside the main resorts.Whilst car hire is cheap – starting at around €13 per day.  Petrol is cheap too – at around €0.80 per litre.

1) The Timanfaya Volcano Park
No visit to Lanzarote would be complete without a tour of the awe inspiring volcanic region.Which was created by massive eruptions in the 18th and 19th centuries.

These wiped out many villages and destroyed farmland.  Leaving fields of solidified lava and spent volcanic peaks in its wake.  Creating surreal scenery that is often likened to the surface of the moon and which has provided the backdrop for a number of major motion pictures.

2) The Jameos del Agua
This huge collapsed tunnel in the lava flow was being used as a rubbish dump by locals until César Manrique transformed it into a breathtaking underground concert venue and grotto.  Complete with bars, restaurants and a swimming pool reserved for the sole use of the King of Spain.

This was Manrique´s first major project and helped to establish Lanzarote as a hot new destination.

3) The Valley of 1000 Palms
Lanzarote is an arid and dry island with little in the way of vegetation and plant life.So the Valley of 1000 Palms comes as a real surprise – as it is so much greener than the rest of the island and packed with countless Canarian Palms. As locals maintain a tradition of planting a palm tree for every new born baby.  Creating a stunning oasis.

4) The Mirador del Rio
This former naval gun battery was converted by Manrique into an incredible look out point.Which is situated around 450 metres above sea level on the Famara cliff range. And offers great views of the neighbouring island of La Graciosa.Thought to be the real location of Robert Louis Stevenson´s classic novel Treasure Island.

5) The Cactus Garden
This celebration of the plant world´s spiniest species is another Manrique creation.  Located in the heart of what was once the islands cactus growing country and regarded as one of the most comprehensive collections of cacti in the world.  With over 10,000 plants on show.

Have you decided on your next holiday for the coming year? It’s got to be the Caribbean!

Right everybody, the holiday season is on its way again, well at least the booking of this holiday is going to be on it’s way. We all have a favourite place to go on holiday, but whereabouts in the Caribbean is best for you to head on vacation. So now that this has been decided, which islands should you avoid and which ones should you try to visit.

So what is the number one island in the Caribbean for people to visit, and has received some of the best reviews in the world. Well St Lucia is probably top of the list, with all kinds of holidays available. This island is more of a relaxation therapy island, filled with Spa holiday hotels. St Lucia, this is where you can travel to just to get yourself a nice sun tan, and not to mention a cracking massage (not bone cracking though). This is also recorded as one of the safest islands in the Caribbean, for families or couples. The staff at all of the hotels have received very good reviews being named as friendly and accommodating. Some of these hotels even go to extra lengths and even provide a free safari trip into the forest of St Lucia.

Right so now we know where the most glorious location to visit in the Caribbean is, but where now should we all try to avoid, and for what reasons. There is definitely one island that stands out among the rest. When you head to the most southerly of the Caribbean islands, you reach the smaller island of Trinidad. There us a very good reason why people are a little wary of coming on holiday to this place. Trinidad has a very bad reputation in the Caribbean for being the most dangerous place to holiday. Well that is the best reason i can think of to stay away from here. If it was my choice, I would go to St Lucia!

So the Caribbean holidays are just around the corner, where are you going to go, how do St Lucia holidays sound, maybe you like the clubbing lifestyle, in which case Barbados holidays are the best option!
